Nimbus Fish Hatchery

The salmon are running, folks!  Last week our little family took a stroll around the Nimbus Fish Hatchery on "Black Friday" instead of facing the crazy crowds at the mall.  We fed the baby fish in the tanks and watched the big fish jump up out of the water.  The biggest fish looked like they were over 3 feet long!  There is also a building where you can learn all about the fish and a giant salmon you can climb in.  We pretended that the giant fish ate us.  The fish ladder was closed for the weekend and they weren't harvesting eggs that day, but if you ever get to go that's really fun to see (and don't forget to bring nickels for the fish food machine).  It has a nice path that goes a long the river that makes for a nice little walk.  It made for a really pleasant morning and it's free!

Summerhays Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope all enjoyed a day full of food, family and football. We sure did. We were lucky enough to be able to attend both of our family's festivities this year. That evening at the Summerhays' we all gathered at Mom and Dad's home. It was so cozy and the air smelled of cider and pies. We reflected back on the first Thanksgiving with a visit from William Bradford and we also sang songs and played games. We all had a lot of fun and are looking forward to Christmas!

Fisher Thanksgiving

This year we enjoyed our Thanksgiving feast at the Balog's home.  We were joined by Justin, Ben and kids, my mom and of course the Balogs.  The food was plentiful and delicious!  I really went above and beyond this year by preparing a pre-packaged salad from Trader Joe's.   After we ate we enjoyed talking with one another and the kids chased each other around and played musical chairs.  Gabe and Alex were dared to jump in the pool with freezing water and they did!  We are so lucky to have so much family in town.  I have countless wonderful memories of my childhood spending the holidays with cousins and aunts and uncles.  I am thrilled that my children will grow up having the same support of family close by.

Turkey Trot

Thanksgiving morning we participated in the 1st Annual Turkey Trot 5K Family Fun Run.  The weather was beautiful and there was an incredible turnout!  We kept a pretty nice pace through the race, or so we thought.  A one-legged man on crutches beat us...  but it's not about winning.  It's all about starting great family traditions.  It also got us excited about doing other runs like this throughout the year.  We are so thankful to live in a place that is abundant in great family activities!

Fun at the Castle Park

We went to the Castle Park with some cousins last Tuesday.  The play structure is all made of wood and looks like a castle.  It has slides, ladders, huge tires and even a dragon over a spiderweb of ropes you can climb across!  Charlotte had a blast and was so sad when we had to leave.  We'll just have to go back again soon, won't we?
